Amazing Kids

It was a successful weekend for everyone except for the "Georgia Storm" baseball team whose tournament was rained out all weekend. Hey but that's okay we got to drive an hour in the rain to the boon docks of Georgia to go out to eat, stay in hotel (it was no Ritz) and then get in the car the next morning to drive home. We'll call it a little vacation ...because we all didn't have 5 million other things we could be doing. I'll be getting a note from the home owners association soon if I don't get some yard work done!!! .....I'm enjoying the journey....

Moving on... Primo and I attended 2 wonderful fundraisers this weekend to help raise money for 2 wonderful causes. Here's where the amazing kids come in...Friday night 2 eight year old boys put on their 2nd annual RockStar Fundraiser. These boys raised $1,500 for a mom in their neighborhood who is battling cancer. There were karate demonstrations, a talent show including rock and roll, guitar hero, a moon jump, raffles and Primo's Persevere -Believe- Win  t-shirts were selling like hot cakes. 20% from each shirt went to the cause. Saturday to Sunday morning was our mini vacation and on Sunday Primo and I attended a tennis tournament put on by a 12 year old boy. $600 was was being raised to start a scholarship fund for a non profit organization called Take A Swing (an organization to give under priveledged kids the opportunity to play tennis, have lessons and get equipment)...this organization is run by 2 Juniors in High School...yeah, that's right. Gosh, between ages 12-16 I was chasing boys, scooping ice cream part time and probably sneaking cigarettes. These are amazing kids ---  Great role models and an inspiration to kids and adults. Our kids have so much to teach us!

The kids who put on a RockStar Fundraiser caught my attention. What a great idea! Kudos to you for attending and helping out. I blog about Kids Who Inspire and I am frequently amazed at the compassion young people show. Thanks for the post.

Thank for your post! In a time where we feel like we are "losing" our kids to technology and sex at younger and younger ages I have to say it seems equally that kids are becoming more and more amazing! I was surrounded by amazing kids that weekend doing great things. I look forward to watching Parker and Sam grow Rockstar Fundraiser each year...I have a good feeling about it
